Developing new treatments for brain arteriovenous malformations: molecular responses to radiation in in vitro and in vivo models

At TIPS journal club meeting held virtually on December 28, 2020, the topic of “Developing new treatments for brain arteriovenous malformations: molecular responses to radiation in in vitro and in vivo models” was presented by Dr. N. Raoufi-Rad, Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. The intercellular adhesion molecule 1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 are assumed to be potential candidates for vascular targeting of irradiated arteriovenous malformations as a leading cause of stroke in children and young adults. In this meeting the expression level of these molecules in cultured brain endothelial cells over a range of radiation doses was presented.
