The 17th October journal club meeting was devoted to the topic of Primer and how making it. A primer is a tiny strand of RNA or DNA (generally about 10 base pairs) that helps as a starting point to make DNA. It is used for DNA reproduction because DNA polymerases can only add new nucleotides to an existing strand of DNA. DNA sequencing is used to regulate the nucleotides in a DNA strand. In PCR, primers are used to determine the DNA fragment to be amplified by the PCR process. The softwares and databases used for that purpose were described. Several questions and discussion raised up by the audience and the teacher and then it was arranged to hold a practical training to go from stage 1 to 10 letting the students to learn that in detail.
