Synthesis and α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Activity Evaluation of 2,4,6-triaryl pyrimidine Derivatives as Antidiabetic agents

At the TIPS journal club held on 24 September, 2018, Mohammed Bule gave a talk regarding synthesis and α-Glucosidase inhibitory activity evaluation of 2,4,6-triaryl pyrimidine derivatives as antidiabetic agents. At the beginning he introduced basic principles in diabetes diseases and pyrimidines as well as α-glucosidase inhibitors. Then, he explained about the methods of synthesis of 2,4,6-triaryl pyrimidine derivatives and spectroscopic determination of 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-phenyl-6-p-tolylpyrimidine (a sample from the synthesized compounds) using 1H NMR, 13 NMR and MS. At the end of his presentation, Mohammed slightly explained the preliminary α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of the synthesized compounds.
