In the journal club meeting held on September 10, 2018, the topic, “The urge to publish more and its consequences” was discussed. In the current era of big science,  all students and researchers are constantly under pressure to publish more to secure grants and to get the course graduation. In order to meet the ever-increasing demand for publication, thousands of new publishers have sprung up globally, and the number of online and subscription-based journals have increased exponentially. More often, the authors trying to publish in predatory journals having no proper indexing, it will lead to retractions. According to the U.S National Science Foundation, there are two main types of misconduct, the major and minor. Plagiarism, falsification, and fabrication of data are the major misconduct. While poor English language writing skills and academic laziness is a minor misconduct. For the proper reporting in science, it is the collective responsibility for all the stakeholders to follow the COPE guidelines to meet the ethical standards. The most important aspect is to retrieve the scientific literature from authentic databases such as PubMed and MEDLINE.
